Best D.A.T.E.S. is a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of making its resident couple and singles (of Charleston, SC) better accumulated with local events on a romantic level. The D.A.T.E.S. categories are distinguished as Dates, Arts, Theatre, Entertainment, and Sports.
For this particular client, I designed their stationary and made additions to their current brand identity. Furthermore, individual icons were illustrated by hand and then turned into vectors in Adobe Illustrator to function as a background image on the business card. ("Best D.A.T.E.S. Charleston" logo was created by Marcus Amaker).
Count of Monte Cristo, Book Cover Design
For a student project, I chose one of my favorite books by one of my favorite black authors - Alexander Dumas, otherwise known for The Three Musketeers, Georges, and The Man In the Iron Mask. I wanted a cover that expressed the intensity of the story itself. So, 90% of this cover design was created by hand using pen & ink on the front and spine as well as a wood burning stylus for the "Monte Cristo" on the front (wood then scanned into Photoshop). The only things created digitally consist of the wax "C" seal, the scarlet background color, and the back cover text. I really, really enjoyed creating this project!

I am a native of Charleston, SC. I am also an A.M.E. minister's (and civil rights activist's) son. I knew 2 of the Emanuel 9, I've been to the church, it's around the corner from my home church (Morris Brown A.M.E.) and I still feel emotionally frustrated when I think about the shooting in my hometown. I was asked at the end of June 2015 to create a cover illustration for a black newspaper, The Charleston Chronicle. I was given 100% creative freedom with the cover for their special Sunday printing.

Student Awareness Campaign
This awareness campaign was created for USC Student Media Organizations (SGTV. The Daily Gamecock. Garnet & Black Magazine. WUSC Radio.) The purpose was to gain student participation in these organizations by placing all of these images on posters, interactive posters, fliers, tear-offs, and animated web gifs. The campaign was successful with increased participation in each organization, plus new students recognized and found joy in seeing this mascot turned character.

SE Ocean Response Logo
This was a client project as well as collaboration with a web designer. We worked together to create 2 versions of the logo (portrait and landscape) for use in print design and web content for WordPress. South Eastern Response is an emergency, rescue, and fire vessel - the fastest of its kind and the oceanic equivalent to a fire truck. Below is one of the pages from my sketch process as well as the logo's final output.

Nike Brochure + Ads
This is a student project was an assignment to create a brochure with accompanying collateral for print and outdoor ads that tells the purpose of the company. This project required research into the company, its proceedings, and its history - I chose NIKE. The cover of this brochure is orange and simple with NIKE's logo at the lower right. The interior's colors only use black, white, and orange with all of the photos and copy from NIKE's corporate website. The inner back cover was created with a custom grid system that's also integrated throughout the brochure and ads. The project includes a small brochure bound by post screws, a billboard ad, a magazine ad, and a newspaper ad.
